F.A.Q
FAQ
Alcohol
Do Eve Taylor products contain alcohol?Often this question arises around the use of drying alcohols such as S.D Alcohol, also known Specially Denatured Alcohol, Alcohol Denat, Ethanol and Isopropyl Alcohol which have a small molecular weight and evaporates very easily.
This form of alcohol is not an ingredient we generally use withing our formulations, however should a client not be able to use alcohol for religious reason, it can be found in the following products:
Active Rub Muscle Ease Gel Ice Tone Leg & Thigh GelIn our products you may see ingredients such as Cetyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Butylene Alcohol and Benzyl Alcohol. These types of alcohol have a different structure, a high molecular weight and are classed as ‘fatty alcohols’. Typically, these alcohols are derived from vegetable oils and have a rich consistency that does not evaporate.
These ingredients are used across our many of our formulations to nourish and give emollient properties to the skin. These forms of alcohol pose no issue for use by those with religious beliefs.
Animal testing
Are Eve Taylor products tested on animals? We can confirm that we do not, nor have ever tested any of our products on animals.
This policy applies for both the end product and any raw ingredients which we use.
We have strict measures in place to ensure that any ingredients we source are from ethical suppliers who share the same principles as us.
No animal should ever be subjected to pain or suffering from skincare or cosmetics being tested on them and Eve, our founder has held this principle her entire career.
Our policy means that we do not sell our skincare products into China as the laws and regulations within that market stipulate that skincare products must be animal tested.
It is also worth noting a complete ban on the sale of cosmetics developed through animal testing took effect within the EU in March 2013.
Breastfeeding
Can Eve Taylor products be used whilst breastfeeding? All skincare is suitable for use whilst breastfeeding and will not cause any detrimental effects due to the minimal amount of essential oils which are absorbed by the body.
Spa Body exfoliants, treatment gels and moisturisers are also suitable for use.
When performing body massage using body massage oil, or body treatments using a body serum, we recommend using Anti-Stress Body Massage Oil and Relaxing Body Serum No.10, and avoid any detoxifying or stimulating body massage oils or body serums during this time.
The same applies for homecare recommendations.
Dermaplaning
Can Eve Taylor products be used alongside dermaplaning? Our products can be used to support dermaplaning treatments and offer soothing, calming and barrier rebuilding effects when combined with ongoing homecare.
Please ensure your clients skin is suitably indicated for the treatment and that the skin shows no signs of redness, broken capillaries or barrier impairment before proceeding with the treatment.
Preparation would start wit with our gel based Purifying Wash to give a de-greasing action to the skin; rinse thoroughly and ensure the skin is completely dry before you progress to the next step.
Please note – some dermaplaning training providers are wrongly recommending using our Enzyme Peel – we do not recommend this product is used after dermaplaning as it contains drying clays which will dehydrate dermaplaned skin.
At Eve Taylor we do not recommend any further exfoliation products be used and cannot be held responsible for sensitivity or reactivity occurring from use of any of our exfoliation products being used.
Hydrating Serum, Ultra Soothing Toner, Refining Eye Gel and C+Bright Priming Moisturiser. If offering a luxury version then we would recommend using the Bio Peel-off Masque after Hydrating Serum for intensive soothing, barrier strengthening effects.
To continue the barrier strengthening effects at home we recommend Ultra Soothing Cleanser, Hydrating Serum, Ultra Soothing Moisture Cream and C+Bright Priming Moisturiser.
Electrical compatible
Can your products be used within electrical treatments? Yes, we have a number of products which are compatible with all main electrical modalities and enhance the effectiveness of the treatment.Galvanic
When performing the Desincrustation stage of the treatment, use Desincrustation Gel whipped to a foam consistency and applied to target areas. Desincrustation Gel should always be used on the negative (-) polarity.
When performing the Iontophoresis stage of the treatment, you may choose Oxygen Response Serum, Pigment Response Serum, Sebum Response Serum, Timeline Response Serum, Firming Serum, Hydrating Serum or Brightening Serum depending on the client’s skin type/condition. Whichever serum is used, follow with a layer of Electro Gel to act as a conductive medium. All of the above Serums and Electro Gel should be used on the positive (+) polarity.
Anti-oxidant Masque with Phyto Collagen, Soothing Masque and Refining Eye Gel may also be used with Iontophoresis for enhanced product penetration.
Microcurrent
There are many different micro-current machines on the market today, with each one using different currents and techniques during the facial; however, there are common similarities with each device.
Electro Gel can be used to conduct the current to the probes and should be layered on the areas you will be working on.
For enhanced muscle re-educating (lifting or relaxing stage) Firming Serum with Electro Gel layered over the top may be used. Probes may also be dipped into Firming Serum throughout this stage.
For product penetration (Specific Iontophoresis stage) the same products can be used. Once you have finished the microcurrent stage, Timeline Response Serum may be used on areas of expression ageing (around the eyes and mouth) to reduce nerve activity and relax these tense areas, while Firming Serum with collagen stimulating peptides can be used elsewhere to further tone and firm the skin. This would be followed by appropriate toner, eye protection, moisturiser, SPF and lip balm.
Microdermabrasion
Our products are perfect to support both crystal and diamond head systems and offer outstanding effects when combined with ongoing homecare.
Preparation would start wit with our gel based Purifying Wash to give a de-greasing action to the skin; rinse thoroughly and ensure the skin is completely dry before you progress to the next step.
Following the Microdermabrasion stage we need to soothe and hydrate the skin, we recommend application of Hydrating Serum and then choose from Soothing Masque or Bio Masque (peel off) dependant on which pricing structure you choose.
Finalise by protecting the skin with Ultra Soothing Toner, Refining Eye Gel, Ultra Soothing Moisture Cream and Daily Skin Defence Moisturiser (SPF 50) to complete the professional treatment.
Epilepsy & Seizures
My client has a history of epilepsy and seizures, can Eve Taylor products be used on their skin? There are various triggers to epilepsy and seizures with some essential oils potentially something that can be a contributing factor.
Our skincare products such as cleansers, toners and moisturisers contain low concentrations of essential oils and so are unlikely to have any negative impact. We always suggest to avoid any stimulating blends of essential oils.
Our Soothing Aromatic Serum, Soothing Face Massage Oil, Relaxing Body Serum No.10 and Anti-stress Body Massage Oil are our least stimulating blends of essential oils.
We would always recommend that your client discusses the use of essential oils with their Doctor/GP before proceeding with a treatment.
Environmental
Are your plastic bottles made from virgin plastic? Our plastic tube components are made from 95% PCR (Post Consumer Recycled) plastic. Our plastic bottles are currently made with at least 10% PCR (Post Consumer Recycled) plastic.
Are your product bottles/components recyclable?Yes, we are happy to say that our packaging is recyclable.
Plastic bottles – made from PET and HDP and are widely recycled by authorities around the UK.
Plastic pumps – made from a combination of plastics – can be recycled in component form.
Airless pumps – made from plastic and aluminium – can be recycled in component form.
Glass amber bottles and jars - are widely recycled by authorities around the UK.
Aluminium bottles - are widely recycled by authorities around the UK.
Yes, all product cartons and cardboard boxes we use as packaging is fully recyclable.
To pack orders we use packaging nuggets made from natural corn starch which is bio degradable and can be dissolved in water; it’s also pet safe too.
Yes, we use FSC or equivalent uncoated paper for all of our product brochures and flyers and are working towards using FSC or equivalent paper for all of our paper based materials.
I’ve heard you plant a tree for every retail product sold, is this correct?Yes, as part of our environmental initiative ‘Give Back to Nature’ we partnered with Trees for the Future, an organisation which plants trees in the developing world and works with marginalised communities to plant thousands of oxygen producing trees that protect and bring nutrients back to the soil. This helps farmers grow a variety of fruits and vegetables, gain increases in income and access to food, all while improving the environment. We made a pledge to plant a tree for every retail product sold – a minimum of 100,000 trees per year.
Do you offset carbon emissions?Yes, as part of our environmental initiative ‘Give Back to Nature’, we plant one tree for every retail product sold. Each tree planted offsets the equivalent of 26,000 miles of car driving carbon emissions per year.
Essential oils & animals
Can Eve Taylor essential oils and diffuser blends be used around animals?
Essential oils & animals
There is much debate with regards to the use of essential oils and our animal friends, which has centred around various, unreferenced internet blogs and websites which have been based on anecdotes opinions.
Some essential oils have the potential to be harmful to animals if overly diffused, ingested or applied topically to the skin, the way those same essential oils could be harmful to humans if over used, and so taking an objective view of how we use essential oils covers both humans and animals alike.
When diffusing essential oils or diffuser blends use our Aroma Diffuser Pod is ideal. We recommend that just 3-4 drops are dispensed into 100ml of water and diffused into the room. This will create a few parts per million of aromatic vapour in the air – enough to be registered by the olfactory system and offer therapeutic benefits without any toxic actions.
If you wish to ensure optimum wellbeing for your pet, make sure you allow adequate ventilation and leave doors open so that the animal may leave the room if they wish. This will avoid any potential build-up of vapours over many hours in a confined space.
Also, be mindful of the blend you are using.
A soothing blend like Relax Diffuser Blend or Mother & Baby Diffuser Blend would assist with keeping the animal calm; however, a stimulating blend such as Recharge Diffuser Blend wouldn’t be appropriate if there was an animal in the room due to its invigorating, stimulating actions.
Gluten / Celiac
Do Eve Taylor products contain gluten and can they be used by celiacs? There is a lot of debate regarding gluten found in skin care products and whether it impacts those with gluten intolerance or celiac disease due to the gluten molecules being too large to be absorbed through the skin.
The National Celiac Association state on their website that:
“there is currently no scientific evidence that gluten used in cosmetics that are not ingested is harmful to individuals with celiac disease, including those with dermatitis herpetiformis (the skin form of celiac disease). If you have celiac disease, then the application of gluten-containing products to the skin should not be a problem, unless you have skin lesions that allow gluten to be absorbed systemically in great quantities. The reason why this should not be a problem is that, based on what we know right now, it is the oral ingestion of gluten that activates the immunological cascades leading to the autoimmune process typical of celiac disease.” Dr. Alessio Fasano.

Hot Stone Massage
Can Eve Taylor massage oils be used with hot stones? We recommend that only Face Massage Oils or Body Massage Oils should be used with hot stones and heat treatments, as these have a lower concentration of essential oils and so won’t cause any issues when heated.
Plain carrier oils, cold pressed oils or Aqua-Mass Water Dispersible Massage Oil are also great options.
We advise to avoid using Aromatic Serums or Body Serums with heat or hot stone massage as the high concentration of essential oils combined with heat could potentially lead to skin irritation or a negative effect to the client.

Linalool & allergens
My client is allergic to Linalool etc, can they use Eve Taylor products? You may have noticed on some product ingredient listings (INCI) several words listed at the very bottom such as Geraniol, Linalool, Limonene, Citral, Eugenol etc.
Whilst some people may assume these are ingredients, they are in fact constituents of essential oils, which must be listed by law as they are classed as potential ‘allergens’.
This law applies to products of all brands which are formulated with essential oils or any ingredient with an aromatic odor (this includes perfume oils, scented candles, bubble bath, scented body cream).
All essential oils are made up of multiple constituents called chemotypes which are the entity of the plants they are derived from, these include terpene alcohols, sesquiterpenes, monoterpenes etc and are the therapeutic element of the essential oil which gives the fragrant aroma.
They are found naturally within the essential oil and are not ‘added’ as an additional ingredient into a formulation.
Some clients can develop sensitivity to the constituents of essential oils such as Geraniol, Linalool, Limonene etc and so for these clients we recommend avoiding products containing essential oils.
Our Skincare Navigator Volume 5.1 and Spa Body Navigator Volume 5 lists all ingredients and so these resources are your first point of reference to ensure you are using the products suitable for your clients skin.
The following products are essential oil free:
Micellar Cleanse – Eye & Lip

Microdermabrasion
Can Eve Taylor products be used with microdermabrasion?
To continue the soothing and anti-inflammatory effects at home we recommend Ultra Soothing Cleanser, Ultra Soothing Toner, Refining Eye Gel, Ultra Soothing Moisture Cream and Daily Skin Defence Moisturiser (SPF 50).
Our Ultra Soothing Collection (Kit) is a perfect retail offering to consider and serves as a single, easy to retail unit.
Microneedling
I offer microneedling in my business, can Eve Taylor products be used with it?As our products are created to be used on unbroken skin, we are unable to guarantee the effects
of products from the Eve Taylor range if used within or after this type of treatment.
The only products we would suggest to be used with superficial microneedling are Hydrating Serum,
and Bio Contour Masque as they are the least stumulating; however, we recommend that you seek advice from your micro-needling supplier and ask for their recommendations.
Nut allergy
My client has a nut allergy, what should I do?Whilst we use a variety of plant oils with many extracted from nuts in our formulations, we only use purified nut oils which have been winterised, deodorised and refined, a process to devoid them of protein particles which are the element responsible for causing allergies.
Our certification confirms that any of the nut oils used in our products are free from allergens as listed in Annex III of Directive 2003/15/EC amending Directive Cosmetics 76/768/EC.
The products using nut based oils contain no detectable amounts of proteins and consequently, for the overwhelming majority of people of people who are allergic to nuts Eve Taylor products products are suitable for those with nut intolerances or allergies.
Oncology products
My client is undergoing oncology treatment, can Eve Taylor products be used on them during this time?Whilst there are different trails of thought in the industry to what is considered safe to us on the skin during oncology/cancer treatment, we recommend using the least stimulating formulations and limit the use of essential oils which have an active effect on the body.
We recommend only the following products to be suitable:
Face products
Ultra Soothing Cleanser
Micro-fine Daily Exfoliant
Soothing Face Massage Oil (this formulation offers soothing non-stimulating effects)
Hydrating Serum
Soothing Masque
Bio Masque
Ultra Soothing Toner
Refining Eye Gel
Ultra Soothing Moisture Cream
Peppermint Hydrolat
Body products
Exfoliating Mousse
Moisturising Body Butter
Aqua-Mass
Anti-Stress Massage & Bath Blend
Diffuser Blends
Winter Blend
Hug in a bottle Blend
Mother & baby Blend
Relax Blend
We suggest before using the above products, (or any brand of products), that the client discusses this with their oncologist first for their approval.
These products are deemed safe by the International Oncology Society.

Product dates & 'Period After Opening' (PAO)Parabens
Product dates & 'Period After Opening' (PAO)At Eve Taylor, we manufacture our products to full GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) production standards – ISO 9001, which is the worlds most recognised standard of manufacturing.
As part of these standards, we must follow strict processes of manufacturing and how we code products to allow for traceability.
The most important aspect to consider is the length of time to use the product within once it has been opened.
If you need to know the date of manufacture for a specific reason, then it is the first five numbers that you need to use.
The first three numbers represent the numerical day of the year, from 001 to 365, the fourth and fifth number represent the year. Any letters or numbers after this are for internal traceability.
For example: 07421345
074: the seventy fourth day of the year = 15th March.
21: the year = 2021.
345 = Internal traceability code.
Meaning this product was manufactured on 15th March 2021.
How long do I have to use a product once opened?
Once any products are opened, the ‘Period After Opening’ symbol on the product bottle tells you how long you must use the product after it’s been opened. This symbol is also known as the ‘open jar’ symbol and is represented by a jar with an open lid.
The time is given in months, represented by a number followed by “M” inside the jar symbol, for example 12M would mean 12 months (1 year) from opening. 24M would mean 24 Months (2 years) from opening.
The reason for not using an expiry date is our products are cosmetic products and not medical products.
Shellfish
My client has a shellfish allergy, can they use Eve Taylor products? Our professional use Lip Contour Masque contains Chitosan which is derived from the shells of crustaceans, and so this product should be avoided for use on those with shellfish allergy.
People with shellfish allergy are sometimes recommended to avoid ingredients with iodine content, an element present in shellfish, as well as other marine based ingredients such as seaweed, algae and kelp. With this in mind the following products contain marine based ingredients:
Skincare
Micellar Cleanse Eye & Lip – contains Laminaria Hyperborea.
Oxygen Response Serum – contains Fucus Vesiculosus Extract.

ET Men

Ro-accutane / Iso-tretinoin
My client has been prescribed Ro-accutane / Iso-tretinoin by their doctor, can Eve Taylor products be used on their skin?As Ro-accutane / Iso-tretinoin is a very powerful medication we would recommend that a gentle hydrating approach is maintained.
The baseline products we would recommend would include Ultra Soothing Cleanser, Ultra Soothing Toner and Ultra Soothing Moisture Cream.
We strongly advise that exfoliation of any kind is avoided, even up to 3 months after the medication has stopped. This is due to the medication inhibiting sebaceous activity and making the skin become very dry, dehydrated and prone to hypersensitivity.
If the client has comedone activity and you wish to extract, then Desincrustation Gel may be used on those target areas prior to extractions. As this product will have a drying action we would advise to rehydrate the skin afterwards with additional targeted products such as Hydrating Serum with Hylauronic Acid and Soothing Masque.
Purifying Spot Gel may be used sparingly on any remaining breakouts.
We highly recommend to that our Daily Skin Defence SPF50 or Moisturising Solar Shield SPF25 is used in all daylight hours as the skin will be prone to photosensitivity. Seal & Protect Moisturising Lip Balm SPF10 may also be used to give protection against UV as well as nourish the lips which may potentially dry out and crack when using this medication.
Rosacea
My client has rosacea, can I treat her? Rosacea is a progressive vascular disorder affecting the blood vessels of the skin and whilst it has similar characteristics to acne (a disorder of the pilosebaceous unit) it is not related to acne whatsoever and so must be treated with a completely different method. Rosacea is highly individual to each person with many triggers and tripwires causing the skin to ‘flare up’. It’s important that clients are encouraged to identify what causes their skin to flare up so that lifestyle adjustments can be made as part of the management of this condition. When using skincare products from the Eve Taylor range we recommend that a simple regime is maintained and would include: Ultra Soothing Cleanser, Ultra Soothing Toner and Ultra Soothing Moisture Cream. Micro-fine Exfoliant may be used 1-2 times per week for gentle exfoliating benefits and the addition of Calming Aromatic Serum on a daily basis, if the clients skin is able to tolerate essential oils. Within the professional facial treatment we would highly recommend the use of our professional-use Colloidal Oatmeal Masque for its unparalleled effects and benefits. Please take our Rosacea Masterclass to learn more about this condition.Vegan product
Are Eve Taylor products vegan friendly? As we use Honey, Bees Wax and Chitosan in the Eve Taylor range we are unable to say our range is fully vegan friendly, however this only applies to a select number of products which are listed below:
